Well the clematis are in. I tried to follow Monty’s instructions and dig a hole 3” deeper that the plant pot. One of them is definitely deep enough but when preparing the hole for the second one, I came across a cluster of buried stones that I just couldn’t budge so it’s planted just below the surface. All I can do is keep my fingers crossed. The roots are covered by leafy perennials so they’ll still be cool. I’m back indoors now preparing some afternoon strawberries from the allotment. Question is…have I done enough today to have them with a dollop of clotted cream? Yes, I think so!
