?A much deserved weekend relaxing at home is what’s in store for us. I’ve had a couple questions about our mantle and fireplace so I thought I would address your questions. When we first moved in, the mantle was painted all matte black, including the bricks. As a single mom who renovated on a budget, I opted to paint the bricks gray and the grout a crisp white instead of retiling. I then enlisted the help of my talented friend Sonja who helped sand and repaint the mantle with Annie Sloan paint! That indeed is a window above the mantle. I replaced the stained glass with clear glass to make it more cohesive with the rest of the windows and to take advantage of those fabulous mature trees in the backyard.
